Record-Breaking Ticket Sales
More than 22,000 tickets have already been sold for the upcoming Women's Six Nations Tournament match between France and England. This event, scheduled for Saturday at 5:45 p.m. at the Chaban-Delmas stadium in Bordeaux, has set a new record for the highest attendance at a women's rugby match in France. The previous record was 18,604 spectators during the France-Wales match in Grenoble in 2023.
Venue Details and Ticket Availability
The match will take place at the historic Lescure park, now known as Chaban-Delmas stadium, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and has a capacity of 28,500 spectators. Tickets are still available, priced at 5 euros for children under 15 and 10 euros for adults, and can be purchased through the FFR website.
Grand Slam Ambitions
The French women's team, ranked third in the world, aims to captivate the audience and secure a victory against the top-ranked and undefeated (against France since 2018) English team. This match is crucial as both teams are competing for the Grand Slam title. Last year, England defeated France 38-33 at Twickenham in front of a record 58,498 spectators, despite a strong comeback from the French team.
Additional Context
The local men's team, Union Bordeaux-Bègles, which usually attracts large crowds, will be playing an important match simultaneously in Bayonne, yet the women's match is expected to draw a significant audience, potentially selling out the stadium.
